SunPine is a world-leading bio-refinery that supplies innovative and sustainable products based on raw tall oil, a residual product from paper mills. They primarily extract tall diesel, which is a biofuel with low carbon dioxide emissions and low energy consumption during its production and life cycle. They produce over 150 million liters of tall diesel per year, which is distributed to consumers via Preem. In terms of positive climate impact, they reduce fossil co2 emissions by 250,000 tonnes per year, which is equivalent to emissions from 300 000 (diesel) vehicles.
SunPine’s vision is to extract renewable products for tomorrow’s generations. This is done by utilizing residual products from sustainable forestry. This sustainability mindset is present throughout their entire business model. In their Haraholmen plant, SunPine produces several different products, including tall diesel, rosin, bio-oil and turpentine. The waste heat, generated from a cooling process during manufacturing is used for district heating, in their own plant and for some of the neighbors in the industrial park.
