For more than ten years, the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth has been tasked with running Swedish Cleantech. During this time, the Swedishcleantech.com website has been managed by IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute, which has helped showcase Swedish environmental technology companies and innovative solutions to an international audience. Now, the assignment has reached its conclusion, and both the English and Swedish websites will close on December 8, 2025.
Through facts, statistics, news articles, and a searchable database of companies, SwedishCleantech.com has helped international stakeholders discover solutions, connect with Swedish companies, and identify business opportunities in Sweden. At the same time, the Swedish Cleantech platform has helped increase the visibility of Swedish companies of all sizes and offered guidance and support in reaching potential partners, buyers, and investors both in Sweden and abroad.
Why is Swedish Cleantech being discontinued?
For over a decade, the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth (Tillväxtverket) has managed the websites swedishcleantech.com and swedishcleantech.se under the Swedish Cleantech brand. In 2025, the initiative was also co-financed by the Swedish Energy Agency (Energimyndigheten).
The decision to conclude the Swedish Cleantech initiative was made in 2025 following a change in the Swedish government’s mandate for the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth, which defines the agency’s responsibilities over time. Under the new mandate, the agency will no longer work on promoting Swedish environmental technology companies or maintaining the company database. As a result, both websites will close on December 8, 2025.
What does this mean for you as a subscriber?
If you have subscribed to the newsletter from Swedishcleantech.com, an email will be sent out in early November 2025, and your email address will be deleted from our systems by January 2026 at the latest.
Find Leading Swedish Cleantech Companies
The tool “Finding Leading Swedish Cleantech Companies” has been widely appreciated by users, both by the companies featured in it, who can showcase their business, and by visitors from Sweden and other countries who want to explore Swedish innovative solutions, learn about the cleantech companies behind them, and connect directly with them.
As the Swedish Cleantech initiative nears its conclusion, discussions are taking place about the future of the matching list and whether it could continue under the management of another organization.
