On the 9th-10th of October, Cleantech Scandinavia and the Swedish Energy Agency are arranging Sweden Sustaintech Venture Day 2024. The theme of the year is ‘Scaling Sustaintech for Global Impact’. We asked Magnus Agerström, CEO of Cleantech Scandinavia, to talk to us about the event.
Hi Magnus Agerström! Tell us about the Sweden Sustaintech Venture Day 2024.
The Sweden Sustaintech Venture Day started as a reaction to the fact that not enough investors were looking at cleantech. This year is the sixth edition and throughout the years, many exciting companies have participated. This year, we hope to see at least half of the participants at the event coming from outside of Sweden. The Swedish cleantech scene has a lot to offer as a result of working for many years with universities, incubators, support systems for startups etc. We also see that a lot of cleantech companies are in the scaleup stage now.
What’s the focus for the 2024 edition?
This year, we are focusing on scaleup financing. The core of the event is the 30 scaleups joining. We will also look at the bigger perspective: what’s the situation on the European market and how is it connected to security matters? We will also give an outlook of what is happening in other countries. The third big focus this year is the green industry.
Who should join SSVD?
We are looking to attract investors – both from Sweden and internationally.
What would you recommend not to miss during the days?
I would not miss the discussion between Thomas Östros from the European Investment Bank, and Julia Reinauld from Breakthrough Energy, which I believe will be very inspiring and insightful. I would also not miss the companies that are part of the event. 15 of the companies are coming from the Swedish Energy Agency’s investment accelerator and are investment ready and well-worked through.
What are you most looking forward to?
This event to me is sort of a kickoff for the green industry. There is a need to talk about the width of this sector and I am looking forward to taking part in that discussion!
