Växjö with over 83 000 residents, is an exciting combination of idyllic small town, university location and entertainment metropolis. Växjö is the centre of Småland and the hub around which the region grows and develops. Here you can live comfortably with minimal environmental impact.

During the first decade of this millennium Växjö has during the 2000s received several international environmental awards. BBC and other international media have proclaimed this centre of Småland “the Greenest City in Europe” for its climate initiatives and successful work on climate change. Växjö is an eco-municipality of political unity and ambitious goals, altogether conducting successful environmental activities to achieve a sustainable and fossil fuel free city. The epithet “the Greenest City in Europe” goes for the sum of all private and public environmental projects carried out and planned. The many international visits, and the international awards received by the municipality, have set Växjö on the world map.

The city center offers exciting shopping, cafés and other interesting venues. In the middle of the city there is a lake surrounded by lush greenery. A stone’s throw away you’ll find the unique Emigrant Institute and the Museum of Småland – Sweden’s Glass Museum. Just outside the center there are several shopping malls.

The business life of Växjö is rich and diverse, with 7,000 companies and industries in a dynamic mix of sizes.

In the surroundings of Växjö you’ll find the Kingdom of Crystal, with glass production that echoes around the world. The small place Lammhult, centre of the Kingdom of Furniture, is also located close to Växjö. These design areas combine a long tradition and a deep knowledge of classical and innovative design.

To its size, Växjö is able to show unusually comprehensive cultural and entertainment offerings. The internationally renowned music ensemble Musica Vitae has its origins in Växjö, as has the world famous pianist Per Tengstrand. One of Sweden´s most popular rock bands The Ark, as well as their colleauges Melody Club, also come from Växjö and its surroundings.

Excellent transport links, proximity to Linnaeus University, and innovative environments attract companies to set up in Växjö.

We are looking forward to seeing you in Växjö too!
