SenSiC has developed a range of sensors based on silicon carbide (SiC), to sit in the SCR part in the emission systems for diesel and petrol engines.
The sensors developed are mainly NH3 slip, NOX, O2, CO/O2 and a particle sensor: PM2,5. SiC is capable to operate up to 600°C and the sensors can operate at the very high temperatures in the exhaust system near the selective catalytic reduction system. These sensors enables the vehicles to run on diesel while they can meet the Euro VI emission requirements.
The CO/O2 sensor is good to control burning boilers. In both applications, you can save large amounts of CO2 emissions and for pelles wood combustion one can burn wood with a zero net CO2 contribution to the atmosphere.
